 America the Beautiful
Our country is a beautiful nation, and we’re having a photo contest to prove it! We’re excited that you’ll have the opportunity to share photos that depict what you think is beautiful about America. So show us a photo from your family reunion, a fun vacation, an image taken in a National Park, or a photo from your own hometown – whatever you think is beautiful! You may enter photographs in several different categories, just be certain the images are actually taken somewhere in the United States within the past year. Wishing you the best of luck!

Categories:
• Macro (close-up images of flowers or insects, details of common objects, etc.)
• Travel (maybe a favorite image from your vacation or road trip)
• Landscape (an image from the rocky shores, wide open plains, majestic mountains, etc.)
• People (any image from family members to people on the streets)
• Events (images from a family reunion, state fair, wedding, amusement park or other fun activity)
Judging:
Judging will be conducted by members of our Arlington Camera Staff. Winning photographs will be selected with regard to the following criteria: Composition, Creativity, Lighting, Outstanding Visual Impact, Subject Relevance, and Technical Merit.
Winners:
Winners will be announced in our November eNewsletter and images will be displayed in the store through November 15, 2009. Winning entries will also be posted on our website. You’ll be famous!
Submission Requirements:
• Amateur photographers only, please!
• Images must have been photographed in the United States within the past year.
• You may submit only one image per category.
• Entries must be submitted online on or before October 16, 2009.
• Images will only be accepted from the original photographer, and he or she must be the sole author and owner of the copyright for each image submitted.
• File submission size must be no larger than 1200 x 800 pixels and no smaller than 900 x 600 pixels.
• Files should be saved as a JPG with maximum quality.
• All winning entries will need to be resubmitted in a 300 dpi JPG format no smaller than 8x10 inches (1500 x 2100 pixels).
• If submission requirements are not followed, the application and images may not be judged.
Upload Instructions:
• Files must be named as followed: (lastName_firstName_categoryName_01.jpg).
• Images must be JPG files only.
• Include your name, phone number, title, equipment used and location of the photograph in the upload message field below.
• Type “Photo Contest” in the upload Subject field below.
• Images that do not follow the digital submission guidelines will be disqualified.
